Woohoo! Worksheet-Free Math Activities

It’s time to monkey around with math! Students will love interrupting their usual math practice with a hands-on activity that requires just two players, colorful counting monkeys, and a sand hourglass or timer. The players will start the timer and see how many monkeys they can hang before the time is up. They will then count their successfully hanging monkeys and compare their numbers using “greater than,” “less than,” or “equal to” symbols to keep track after each round. You can also encourage your kids’ mathematical thinking with marker mats—one side will display a dice image, the other will display a ten-frame. Use different numbers for each mat and place them on the floor. Call out a number and instruct your kids to jump to the correct mat to challenge their number identification skills.
