Teach Acceptance this Holiday Season

Incorporating holiday festivities into the classroom can be stressful and time-consuming, but it also offers a great opportunity to talk about diversity and acceptance. Ask students to bring in recipes (or even better—a family favorite dish!) and celebrate the season with an open discussion of how different cultures, religions, and families honor the holidays. Use this chance to find the common ingredients in all of the recipes and connect that to the importance of accepting others and learning tolerance in and out of the classroom.
