Pick a “Transitional” Song Playlist

Transitioning to the next classroom activity can drive you crazy. Students can wander away rather than get to where they are supposed to be in a timely manner. You don’t have to be a broken record—press play on “transitional” songs to signal students to be mindful of their time and to prepare for what’s next in their school day. Play a fun song for clean-up time, or alert the class that lunch is soon with a catchy jingle. Award points to the students that are ready in their correct places by the time the song ends and tally them up at a later date for an inspiring incentive.
